Somewhere on the Atlantic Ocean
May 12, 2001
We left St. Augustine on May 10, at high noon! The Atlantic Rally
for Cruisers were sent off by the mayor of St. Augustine as well as other very official
rally types. It was a very nice send-off.
Currently we are about 200 miles east of Florida. The weather has been
warm and there has been very little wind so far. We are making about 4.5 knots
toward Bermuda. This is certainly not going to be a fast passage. We are
hoping the wind picks up just a bit.
Onboard, with us are Barb Root and Kim Thomas. Barb is an old friend
from Crescent Sail Y.C. and Kim is a sailing/ski buddy of Crissie's. Barb currently lives
near Colorado Springs and Kim lives in Grosse Pointe. Kim has an Ericson 30 that she
keeps at Northstar Sail Club on the Clinton River.
So far things are going well. We have had dolphins cavorting around the
boat and lots of phosphorescence in our wake. Right now Bermuda seems a very long
way off.
More later.
